Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Interfaith Citizen's Home, Carbonear on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, Susie Stella Gillingham of Lower Island Cove, age 89 years. Predeceased by husband: Freeman; sisters: Leah Wheeler, Ethel Morris and Elsie Snelgrove; brother: Eleazer Morris. Leaving to mourn, daughter: Maureen (Ed) Hopkins, Brampton, ON; sisters: Evelyn Reynolds, Blackhead and Jean Lewis, Lower Island Cove; also a number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Western Bay. Interment will follow in the United Cemetery, Lower Island Cove. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 70 Ropewalk Lane, St. John’s, NL, A1B 3R9 or to donate online, visit cancer.ca.
